GLENARDEN, MD — (WMAL) Seven victims have come forward following a child pornography scandal in Prince George’s County Public Schools.
At a press conference last night, Prince George’s Police chief Henry Stawinski confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
Police arrested 22-year-old teacher’s aide Deonte Carraway last week after it was discovered that Carraway was taking sexually explicit videos and pictures of elementary school students.
He worked at Judge Sylvania Woods Elementary School and allegedly took pictures of the students on school property during school hours.
Charges are still mounting against Carraway as police interview dozens of families and children related to the incident.
“It goes without saying that these type of acts are intolerable and wholly unacceptable,” said Kevin Maxwell, CEO of Prince George’s County Schools.
Maxwell urged parents and students to call (301) 618-8342 to report any “suspicious activity” noticed in the school district.
County Executive Rushern Baker said that it’s the county’s responsibility to protect children from predators like Carraway.
“I want you to know that we’re going to do everything in our power to make sure that this type of situation doesn’t happen again,” Baker said.
