WASHINGTON — (WMAL) D.C.’s Ward 2 Council Member, Jack Evans, is Metro’s new Board of Directors Chair.
The Board elected him unanimously on Thursday.
Evans said that he plans to visit all 91 Metro stops to see the system in action and look for ways to improve it.
“The number of things I hear from my constituents about Metro is safety, reliability… things of that nature,” Evans said. “That’s the types of issues I’ll be discussing with the General Manager.”
The Board of Directors is also responsible for the hiring of new Metro General Manager Paul Wiedefeld two months ago.
Evans will meet with Wiedefeld on a regualr basis and outline a plan to improve the Metro and its governing body.
Evans has suggested talking to the federal government about a funding agreement, as well as shaking up the current structure of the Board of Directors to include new members.
