JERUSALEM — (CNN) Former Israeli President Shimon Peres was taken to the hospital Sunday night after suffering from an irregular heartbeat, his spokesman Ayelet Frish said.

Peres is expected to spend the night for observation and testing.

Less than two weeks ago, the former president underwent angioplasty after a narrowed coronary artery was found.

Peres is 92 years old.
