WASHINGTON — (WMAL) Mayor Muriel Bowser is urging D.C. residents to stay inside for the rest of the blizzard.
Bowser said that over 20 inches of snow has fallen in the District since yesterday, with much more to come.
“I don’t have second thoughts about it,” she said, in regards to the travel ban. “We cannot afford to divert our emergency services.”
City officials also told the public that any street parking spots in the District would not be protected during the storm.
Anyone can take any parking spot on the street if it’s left open.
Chris Geldart, D.C.’s Director of Emergency Management said that emergency response would work in multiple phases.
Plows are currently combing through the District’s main roads and will work continuously until the end of the storm.
A much larger cleanup team will remove the rest of the snow after the blizzard has ended.
Bowser and Geldart are also considering closing schools on Monday.
