CHEVY CHASE, MD — (WMAL) Which Maryland politician is more like Donald Trump? Well that depends on who’s talking. Senate President Mike Miller and Comptroller Peter Franchot, both Democrats, have each accused the other of being like the controversial Republican presidential frontrunner.

“He’s [Trump] like one of our state officials. I’m not gonna name his name. He’s a fraud. He’s a moderate Democrat who’s now transforming himself saying he’s a right-wing Tea Party Conservative to get the vote. That’s nonsense. You’ve gotta be true to yourself. He’s not true to himself as are other politicians that we know,” Miller told New Channel 8’s Bruce DePuyt on the first day of the legislative session Wednesday.

Even though Miller didn’t use Franchot’s name, Professor of Government at American University David Lublin named names in his Seventh State blog.

Franchot told WMAL if anyone’s like Trump, it’s Miller. “He pops off with these outrageous statements, strings of curses, bullies people, intimidates people. That’s not me,” Franchot said.

He added Miller needs to take a look in the mirror. “I think that kind of erratic behavior is very concerning to people, you know, people who wonder, ‘how could someone possibly be that rude and that much of a bully?'”

Franchot said Miller’s criticizing him because he’s not submitting to the will of the Democratic Party but instead working for the taxpayers.
