The Nationals' A-league farm team in Prince William County has reached a milestone in its bid to build a new 6,000 seat stadium next to the Wegmans in Woodbridge.

The team has signed a sponsorship deal with Manassas-based HVAC contractor company F.H. Furr –  its first sponsorship of several that will be needed to fund the new facility.  The P-Nats are still looking for a primary naming-rights sponsor to help underwrite the $30 million cost of building the stadium.

The P-Nats have been planning the stadium for the past 3 years, and are under pressure from Minor League baseball to get a deal done.  Their current home, Phitzner stadium, has been rated as the worst in the Carolina League, and the club has been given until the end of the 2015 season to come up with a new home – otherwise it will have to relocate.

P-Nats General Manager Josh Olerud says the signing of F.H. Furr will hopefully start a domino effect to get other sponsors on board, and he's hopeful the team will be able to announce a construction start date by opening day 2015.
