(WASHINGTON) — The U.S. Department of Energy said Monday that the price of gas has fallen again, by about 10 cents since last week, and even more steeply, by 60 cents from this time last year.

The average price of a gallon of regular gas dipped to $2.68 nationally. In Texas, the cost of a gallon fell below $2.50. Even in California, long one of the most expensive states in which to buy gas, the average price fell below $3.00 per gallon.

Of the nine states the Energy Information Administration measures prices in, gas is most expensive in New York state, where the average price is $3.03.
