WASHINGTON — (WMAL) Washington D.C. may be one of the cheapest New Year’s destinations around.
New Year’s tourists to the District can pay as little as $100 per night for a hotel room this week.
“It’s very affordable compared to other U.S. destinations,” said Daniel Berger, Chief Surveyor at cheaphotels.org.
Berger surveys people who’ve stayed at hotels in the District and uses the data to determine the cheapest days of the year.
New Year’s Eve is one of those days.
“You could even find a four star hotel for $120,” Berger said, “There seem to be a lot of vacancies at the moment.”
He also said that hotel rooms in D.C. usually cost twice as much in the summer as they do right now.
At the end of the year, more people leave D.C. for the holidays than come in, leading to cheaper room rates.
The most expensive New Year’s hotel rooms in the country can be found in Miami Beach for $286 per night.
