5am – A/B/C Obama: Americans want 'new car smell' in 2016. (AP) — HENDERSON, Nev. – President Barack Obama says voters want a "new car smell" in the 2016 White House race and that Hillary Rodham Clinton would be "a great president." But would Clinton pass that particular smell test.” In a nationally televised interview broadcast Sunday, Obama seemed to suggest that any Democrat other than him would provide the turn of the page that he says voters are interested in. He acknowledged the "dings" to his own political standing during nearly six years of sometimes bruising battles with Congress and said Americans will want something new. "They want to drive something off the lot that doesn't have as much mileage as me," Obama said in the interview with ABC's "This Week," which was taped Friday in Las Vegas following a public appearance there by the president.
5am – D Marion Barry, District Councilman and Former Mayor, Dies at 78. In January 1984, U.S. Attorney Joseph E. diGenova hauled Barry before a federal grand jury probing allegations that Karen Johnson, the woman he had met in 1980, had sold cocaine to the mayor and other high-ranking D.C. officials. Federal prosecutors had obtained a tape from Johnson's boyfriend, a federal informant, on which Johnson spoke of selling drugs to Barry 20 to 30 times.
5am – E Graham critical of new GOP House report on Benghazi, calls findings 'garbage.' (Fox News) — South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham on Sunday criticized a recently released House Republican report that concludes no intelligence lapses in connection with the fatal Benghazi attacks, saying congressional investigators did a “lousy job.” “I think the report is full of crap,” Graham, a Republican, said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” The House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence report released late Friday concluded the CIA and the military acted properly in responding to the 2012 attack on a U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya. The report also found no wrongdoing by Obama administration officials, no delay in sending a CIA rescue team, no missed opportunity for a military rescue and no evidence the CIA was covertly shipping arms from Libya to Syria. “This report puts all the blame on the State Department and absolves the intelligence community,” Graham said. Graham, among the most outspoken Capitol Hill lawmakers about the administration’s handling of Benghazi, also told CNN the report does not exonerate the administration. He said the House committee is “doing a lousy job policing their own.”
6am – A/B/C SNL skit suggests Obama’s immigration executive action is unconstitutional. (Washington Post) — Last night, Saturday Night Live's "cold open" mocked President Obama's new executive action shielding 4 million illegal immigrants from the threat of immediate deportation. To the tune of a "Schoolhouse Rock!" song, Kenan Thompson dresses up as a "Bill" and explains how Congress passes one. Until Jay Pharoah, playing Obama, pushes Thompson down the Capitol steps. "There's actually an even easier way to get things done around here, and it's called an executive order," Obama (Pharoah) says. Bobby Moynihan shows up dressed as an Executive Order and sings, "I'm an executive order, and I pretty much just happen." The Bill (Thompson) climbs back up the stairs and declares, "Look at the midterm elections. People clearly don't want this." Obama is asked whether this is constitutional. "Of course," he says. "Presidents issue executive orders all the time." Then the Executive Order (Moynihan) starts singing, "I'll create a new national park … or a new highway," and, keeping with the rhythm, the president adds, "or bring legal status to 5 million undocument[ed] immigrants." The Executive Order then looks at himself and shouts ,"Oh my God! I didn't have time to read myself. Woah!"
6am – D Marion Barry, District Councilman and Former Mayor, Dies at 78. In January 1984, U.S. Attorney Joseph E. diGenova hauled Barry before a federal grand jury probing allegations that Karen Johnson, the woman he had met in 1980, had sold cocaine to the mayor and other high-ranking D.C. officials. 7am – B Sh*t Only Southern Women Say. And dozens of other expressions that will make you feel like you’re back in Alabama or South Carolina or…
7am – C Washington Post: Kicking the bucket list. Are bucket lists pointless or a great idea? (By Jim Sollisch November 20) — Apparently, I am more of a slacker than I thought. Not only don’t I have a bucket list, “make a bucket list” isn’t even on my to-do list. Everyone else seems to have one these days, from Cameron Diaz and Bill Clinton to bloggers who document their progress in exquisite detail. There is even a social-media site called BucketList.org, with more than 194,000 members, that can help you make a list and share it with friends. The top item on Clinton’s bucket list: “Ride a horse across the Gobi Desert to the place where people think Genghis Khan is buried.” This guy has already crossed off his list “Be elected president of the world’s greatest superpower” not once but twice. Can’t he just relax? Can’t we all just relax? Getting old is supposed to be fun now. And bucket lists mark just how much fun we’re having. If you’re lucky enough to be able to retire — a big if, given how many people simply can’t afford to stop working — you’re expected to then learn a new language, travel to a wildlife preserve in Kenya, take up Bikram yoga or sharpen your culinary skills. Leave it to us baby boomers to turn retirement into summer camp. I didn’t like summer camp very much. I just want to grow old the old-fashioned way. If my choices are either to learn Italian or to continue to work every day till death visits me in my cubicle, give me work. What does it mean to live a full life? Is all this activity essential? That’s a big question. And I have no idea of the answer. But at 56, I’m getting old enough to start giving it some serious thought.
