(CNN) — Donald Trump reacted Wednesday morning to Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal’s decision to drop out of the presidential race, calling the Republican governor “a little nasty” but ultimately a “nice guy.”
“Well, he was, you know, a little nasty with me, but I think ultimately was very nice and he tried. Everyone’s nasty to me because they want to get votes,” Trump said Wednesday morning on Fox News. “Look he was in there, he tried very hard. I think he’s a nice guy, he was a good man.”
Jindal dropped out of the GOP presidential race Tuesday evening after he failed to gain any traction in the polls, even after he tried to gain some momentum by attacking Trump, the Republican front-runner.
In a Washington news conference in September, Jindal slammed Trump as a “narcissist,” an “egomaniac” and suggested sending him back to reality TV. But even those attacks failed to give Jindal a rise in the polls.
Trump said similar words about former Texas Gov. Rick Perry — who called Trump a “cancer on conservatism” — after he ended his campaign for the presidency in September.
Jindal is now the third Republican to drop out of the race for the GOP nod and Trump said he is “not sad” to see them leave the race “one by one.”
