ROCKVILLE, MD — (WMAL) Dole Fresh Vegetables is recalling cases of bagged salad after discovering a possible salmonella risk in the spinach.

Consumers are encouraged to look out for Dole Spinach coded A27409B & A27409A with an Enjoy By date of October 15 and UPC 7143000976.

The spinach was shipped from Michigan but was distributed to supermarkets in Maryland.

A sample at Dole’s Michigan plant tested positive for salmonella yesterday and the recall is precautionary.

Salmonella can cause foodborne illnesses with symptoms including fever, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting and stomach pains.

If you own an affected bag of Dole Spinach, the company suggests discarding it immediately.
