CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA — (CNN) A grand jury has indicted Jesse Matthew Jr. on charges of first-degree murder and abduction with the intent to defile in the case of Morgan Harrington, a Virginia Tech student whose remains were found months after her October 2009 disappearance.

Matthew is also accused of kidnapping and killing University of Virginia student Hannah Graham last year.

The Albermarle County Commonwealth Attorney’s Office announced the new charges against Matthew Tuesday.

A grand jury returned the charges against him last week.

He is set to appear in court to face the Harrington charges on Wednesday, prosecutors said.
