PRESS RELEASE: AM Radio is Back. Car Radio Act Introduced in Congress

Religious broadcasting trade association champions AM radio, source of “live, local, lifesaving emergency communications in times of disaster”

(WASHINGTON, DC) WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 29, 2025 — NRB president & CEO Troy A. Miller has issued a statement of support for legislation introduced by Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Ed Markey (D-Mass.) that would maintain AM radio capabilities in the dashboard of all new U.S. vehicles.

“NRB welcomes the introduction of the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act to the 119th Congress.

Every day, our members broadcast messages of faith, family, and freedom on the AM band. AM radio uplifts, entertains, and informs listeners all over the country and supports live, local, lifesaving emergency communications in times of disaster.

On behalf of our nation’s religious broadcasters, we look forward to building partnership and collaboration across Washington, across industries, and across America to preserve AM radio in the dashboard of vehicles manufactured and sold in the United States.

The National Religious Broadcasters association is an historic champion of AM radio. At the 2024 NRB International Christian Media Convention, NRB welcomed the support of President Donald J. Trump, who pledged that “I will do my part to protect AM radio in our cars.” With more than 120 AM stations as NRB members and representing an industry-wide coalition of faith-driven broadcasters who reach hundreds of millions of listeners, viewers, and readers every month, NRB will encourage lawmakers to give prompt consideration to this timely and important legislation. ###
