Fairfax County Police are Searching for a Possible Suspect in a String of Assaults on Popular Trail

By: Barbara Britt

Fairfax County Police have released a description of a man who may be involved in a series of assaults and indecent exposures on the popular W and O-D Trail (Washington and Old Dominion).

Just last night, a man tried to abduct a teen girl walking her dog near the trail in Reston. The teen managed to break free. The incident happened not far from where two women were grabbed while on the trail in separate incidents last Friday – one victim telling police the man was not wearing any pants.

Fairfax County Police Public Information Officer, Tara Gerhardt, says officers have stepped up patrols on the trail in recent days. Police are also now looking back at incidents from earlier this month involving indecent exposure cases on the trail to see if they are linked.

Police describe the man as Hispanic, approximately 5’11” with an athletic build. In last night’s incident, he was wearing black shorts and a black hooded sweatshirt.
