URBANA, MD — (WMAL) One person is dead and another is severely wounded after a stabbing attack in Frederick County.
A Korean couple was attacked by a man wielding a kitchen knife Sunday night at the Anna Prayer Counseling and Retreat Center in Urbana.
Although their names have not yet been released, the husband was stabbed to death while his wife survived her injuries.
The suspect is an American citizen who was at the retreat for less than a week.
30-year old Song Su Kim, of Falls Church, Virginia, turned himself in shortly after the crime was committed and is now in police custody.
Frederick County Sheriff Chuck Jenkins said that officers had to perform CPR on the woman and that they likely saved her life.
“I don’t know what to make of it, to be honest,” Jenkins said, “I don’t think people are safe anywhere anymore.”
The woman is in serious condition at the hospital, but Jenkins said that she will survive her injuries and is cooperating with police through a translator.
