Thursday, the disgraced former “Empire” star Jussie Smollet, was sentenced to 150 days in jail and 30 months’ probation for staging a fake hate crime. Smollet’s conviction is the result of a 2019 incident in which he claimed to have been assaulted by two masked strangers who used homophobic slurs and announced their support for then-president Donald J. Trump. It was later revealed that the attack was fabricated and Smollet had paid two brothers to stage the assault.
- 150 days: the number of time that Smollet will spend in prison following the court’s decision.
- 30 months: the amount of time that Smollet will spend on probation following his release from jail.
- $120,000: the amount Smollet was order to pay in restitution. He was also fined $25,000 by the Cook County Circuit Court Judge James Linn.
