Light snow expected tonight and Tuesday across the DC Metro Area

WASHINGTON – Expect to see periods of light snowfall tonight and tomorrow across the Washington D.C. Metro area.

According to Michael Souza, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, the D.C. area could see up to an inch of snow between tonight and tomorrow.

“As the hours progress, those periods of snowfall will be more spaced in-between, Souza said.” “So it’s just going to be very gradually diminishing periods of light snow through most of tomorrow.”

Temperatures will be in the upper 20s and low 30s and so it is best to avoid untreated surfaces as they may freeze overnight.

Parts of northern Maryland are expected to see more snow than areas toward the south. Those closer to Baltimore can expect between 1-3 inches of snow.

Souza believes things will start to clear up as we head into Wednesday.

“The threat lingers throughout the morning hours on Wednesday, but by Wednesday afternoon we’re pretty much said and done with any lingering snow showers,” Souza said.
