4th of July Fireworks & Events Guide

    Firework start at 9:05 p.m and last 14 ½ minutes.Fireworks are launched from Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool

    Best Place to watch are anywhere along the National Mall between 14th St and the Capitol.

    Independence Day culminates with a spectacular fireworks display launched from West Potomac Park and behind the Lincoln Memorial which will be visible from many locations throughout D.C. and Northern Virginia. The fireworks will be cancelled in case of heavy rain, thunderstorms or high winds.

    Additional viewing areas include the Lincoln Memorial, National Mall, Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial, Thomas Jefferson Memorial, The White House Ellipse, West Potomac Park, East Potomac Park, and  Anacostia Park.

    On the Virginia side, you can view Washington DC Fireworks from the U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial and the George Washington Memorial Parkway.

    DC has many festive rooftop bars with amazing panoramic views of the firework

    Some of them are:

    -Flight Wine Bar near Chinatown

    -Avery’s Bar and Lounge on H St NE

    A Capitol Fourth (39th Annual Capitol Fourth Concert)

    8 p.m. – 9:30 p.m., West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol

    This all-star salute to America\’s 243rd birthday with performances by Grammy Award-winning music legend Carole King, multi-platinum recording artist Vanessa Williams, Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Colbie Caillat, the National Symphony Orchestra, and a special appearance by the Sesame Street Muppets!

    Prohibited items:

    Entering the site will require security screening. This will include a search of all bags, coolers, backpacks and closed containers. Banned items include the following:

    • Alcoholic beverages
    • Glass bottles
    • Animals (other than service animals)
    • Bicycles and motorized scooters; devices required for accessibility (ADA) will be accommodated
    • Firearms and ammunition (either real or simulated)
    • Explosives, including fireworks
    • Knives, blades or sharp objects
    • Laser pointers, signs, posters
    • Mace, pepper spray
    • Sticks, poles
    • Electric stun guns
    • Martial arts weapons or devices
    • Umbrellas larger than 36 inches in diameter
    • Pocket or hand tools
    • Sealed packages, large boxes, duffel bags, suitcases
    • Drones, model rockets, remote or manually controlled model gliders, model airplanes or unmanned aircraft, model boats and/or cars, and other unmanned ground or aircraft systems.

    Certain items including beach or camp chairs sitting low to the ground are permitted. Additionally, food products may be brought in and guests are encouraged to bring their own water.

    Salute to America

    6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., Lincoln Memorial

    President Donald J. Trump honors America’s armed forces with music, military demonstrations, flyovers and much more. Participants include the Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps, the U.S. Army Band (“Pershing’s Own”), the Armed Forces Chorus, the United States Marine Corps Silent Drill Team, and many others. Gates open at 3:30.
