Baltimore Police announced an arrest in the Oct. 3 mass shooting that occurred on the Morgan State University campus.
Detectives arrested the 17-year-old in Washington D.C. and was taken into custody Oct. 12. He was charged with multiple counts of attempted murder.
Baltimore Police Department worked with the Metropolitan Police Department to identify and locate the suspect based on surveillance video from the shooting.
“BPD has been working tirelessly on the investigation into this incident and are grateful for the many partners that assisted us in identifying and capturing one of our suspects,” Commissioner Richard Worley said in a press release. “We will not rest until Williams is in custody. While this arrest cannot undo the damage and trauma caused that day, it is my hope that it can bring some peace and justice to the victims, the Morgan community and our city.”
Baltimore Police detectives have also issued an attempted murder warrant for 18-year-old Jovan Williams in connection to the shooting.
All of this comes as Morgan State University’s President Dr. Davis Wilson is recommending a security barrier to be built around school grounds.
