In an announcement that comes as little surprise to most, Tesla CEO and prospective new owner of Twitter Elon Musk announced that he will be voting for Republican candidates this fall after a lifetime of voting “overwhelming” for democratic candidates.
While speaking at a tech conference in Miami, Musk told attendees, “I have voted overwhelmingly for Democrats, historically — I’m not sure, I might never have voted for a Republican, just to be clear.” He continued, “Now this election I will.”
Musk did double-down on the fact that he remains a moderate with a vision for Twitter that provide political preference no neither party. “The reality is that Twitter at this point, you know, has a very far left bias,” Musk said. “I would classify myself as a moderate, neither Republican nor Democrat.”
While Musk’s bid for Twitter has hit a sticking point over questions surrounding the percentage of Twitter users that classify as bots, he announced on Twitter last week that he is “still committed to the acquisition.”
