Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is once again leading the charge against the radical left, establishing a precedent in Florida that protests in front of private homes will not be tolerated by state and local officials. Following demonstrations outside the homes of Justices Alito and Kavanaugh homes over the past week in response to leaked reports that the Supreme Court plan to overturn Roe v. Wade, DeSantis is putting his foot down on the potential of similar situations in the Sunshine State.
The bill, H.R. 1571, signed into law on Monday “prohibits picketing and protesting outside of a person’s place of residence”, according to press release issued by DeSantis’ office. The new law makes the offense a second-degree misdemeanor, with violators facing up to 60 days in jail and a fine of up to $500.
“Sending unruly mobs to private residences, like we have seen with the angry crowds in front of the homes of Supreme Court justices, is inappropriate,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “This bill will provide protection to those living in residential communities and I am glad to sign it into law.”
The new law is schedule to take effect beginning October 1 of this year.
