On Wednesday, the Trump Organization announced that it had sold the lease to their Washington, D.C. hotel located on Pennsylvania Ave to a Miami-based investor group. The Trump International Hotel is officially closing its doors after reaching an agreement to sell the property for a reported $375 million.
Hours after the Trump Organization announced the sale of the hotel several workers could be seen removing the iconic Trump signs from the exterior of the building. In its place the Waldorf Astoria Washington, D.C. is expected to open by early summer, said the investment group who purchased the lease.
“We took a dilapidated and underutilized government building and transformed it into one of the most iconic hotels in the world. We are incredibly proud of what we accomplished,” said Eric Trump, the former president’s son and Trump Organization executive vice president, in a statement per NBC News.
