Biden Administration Investing in “Climate Friendly” Military Vehicles

By WMAL.com

The Biden Administration used Earth Day on Friday as an opportunity to announce that they plan to make every vehicle used by the U.S. military more climate friendly. The announcement came during a speech in Seattle where the President touted his administration’s work on climate change.

The call for President Biden to act on climate change has grown louder from the progressive wing of the democratic party, who are concerned that his climate agenda has stalled. The President used the opportunity to pledge his commitment to creating a lasting legacy on climate change, including going as far as to modify and replace military vehicles that do not comply with his climate-friendly vision.

“One of the things I found out as President of the United States, I get to spend a lot of that money,” Biden said. “We’re going to start the process where every vehicle in the United States military, every vehicle, is going to be climate-friendly — every vehicle — I mean it.”

The Biden Administration called on Congress to pass his $5.8 trillion budget proposal for 2023, including $773 billion for the Department of Defense (DoD). While this would be the largest investment in DoD history it is unclear exactly what Biden plans to do to transition the American military’s vehicle fleet to be more climate friendly.
