The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has announced the end of enforcement of the Biden Administration’s mask mandates on planes, trains, and other methods of public transit, said an administration official on Monday. Last week the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) extended the mandates on public transit to stay in effect until May 3.
The end of enforcement follows a ruling by Trump nominated U.S. District Judge Kathryn Mizelle, who struck down the mandate on Monday stating that the CDC has exceeded its statutory authority and did not provide adequate justification for its decision to continue enforcing mask mandates. The lawsuit against the enforcement of mask mandates was filed by the Health Freedom Defense Fund. The Fund describes itself as “a non-profit organization that ‘opposes laws and regulations that force individuals to submit to the administration of medical products, procedures, and devices against their will,” according to the ruling.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis took to Twitter to weigh in on the ruling, “Great to see a federal judge in Florida follow the law and reject the Biden transportation mask mandate. Both airline employees and passengers deserve to have this misery end.”
As of late March, all 50 states had lifted their statewide mask mandates.
