2024 Setting up to be Democrats’ Nightmare

By WMAL.com

If the democrats were worried about the upcoming 2022 midterms this Fall, they may be heading toward an even worse situation in the 2024 elections. While the House is expected to flip Republican in the midterm elections the Senate map in 2024 is ripe for the possibility of the GOP picking up a veto-proof majority in the upper chamber.

With eight swing-state democrats up for election in 2024 and the possibility of former President Donald J. Trump on the ballot the left’s worst nightmare of losing both the White House and the GOP picking up a veto-proof majority in the Senate could become a reality. In 2024, the Democrats will have to defend seats in West Virginia, Montana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, Nevada and Arizona.  This challenging map is coupled with the fact that Senate Republicans who have opposed Trump in the past will not longer hold office, including Sens. Rob Portman (OH), Pat Toomey (PA) and Jeff Flaked (AZ).

In the wake of President Biden’s sliding poll numbers, the surge in inflation rates and gas prices, and a lack of leadership on foreign affairs, the democrats are scrambling with how to message to voters and win back their favor over the next two election cycles. The GOP is fully expected to be on the offensive in both cycles, looking to pick up seats and build strong majorities in both chambers.
