Following the Biden Administration’s decision to let Title 42 expire next month, Governor Gregg Abbott has announced that Texas will be shipping all new migrants entering the state to Washington, D.C. by way of charter bus.
The end of Title 42 has become hotly contested issue, as Republicans claim the provision prevented a wave of illegal immigration and provided border patrol with the authority to ease the deportation of migrants. The Trump-era pandemic provision drastically curbed the number of immigrants entering the United States and its expiration is expected to bring a surge of illegal migration at the southern border.
In a press release issued by the Governor’s office regarding the precautions be taken by the Department of Homeland Security, Abbott said the Department “has no plan for addressing the anticipated surge of illegal immigrants when Title 42 expulsions end, and because DHS is expected to release large groups of migrants into Texas communities.”
“To help local officials whose communities are being overwhelmed by hordes of illegal immigrants who are being dropped off by the Biden administration, Texas is providing charter buses to send these illegal immigrants who have been dropped off by the Biden administration to Washington, D.C.,” Abbott said.
The Texas Governor is bringing the fight straight to Biden’s back yard with his announcement that Texas will not serve as refugee for illegals entering this country. This marks the beginning of what will continue to be a hotly contested issue over the next month leading up to the provision’s expiration.
