Elon to Join Twitter Board of Directors

By WMAL.com

After purchasing a 9.2% stake in Twitter earlier this week, Elon Musk is now set to become the newest member of the company’s Board of Directors. While Musk became the largest stake holder in the company, he now has a seat at the decision making table.

  • Critical of Twitter: Musk has grown increasingly vocal about his opposition to the company’s policies regarding free speech. Many speculate that the electric car titan will use his influence to change the company’s policies as they relate to the First Amendment. Musk has not confirmed plans to do at this time.
  • Accumulating stock: the 9.2% stake purchased on Monday was not Musk’s first foray into Twitter. Disclosures show that he purchased 620,000 shares on January 31; 371,075 shares on February 15; and 4.8 million shares on February 7.
  • Stock price: the Twitter stock rallied more than 27% following the news of Musk’s acquisition on Monday.
