AG Miyares Takes Legal Action Against Thomas Jefferson High School for Discriminatory Practices

By WMAL.com

Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares announced that his office was filing an amicus brief against Thomas Jefferson High School of employing discriminatory and illegal admissions practices. Miyares’ office alleges that the school’s unconstitutional policies unfairly discriminated against Asian American students on the bases of their race.

“Thomas Jefferson High School has been consistently among the top public schools in the country, and they created and maintained this achievement with a merit-based admissions process. But over the past year, Thomas Jefferson High School changed their policy to prioritize an individual’s race over merit. By doing so, Thomas Jefferson High School has discriminated against deserving students and violated the Equal Protection Clause. This is not equality,” said Attorney General Miyares.

The move by Miyares’ office follows promises made on the campaign trail by both Youngkin and Miyares to take on leftist school administrators in Northern Virginia and restore equity and parental rights to the school system.
