Rasmussen released a poll this week in which 1,000 likely voters were asked, “Who do you trust more to deal with education issues. Democrats or Republicans?” The poll found that republicans currently hold a seven point advantage over democrats on the issue.
- 43 percent of voters said they favored republicans, 36 percent said they favored democrats, and 18 percent said the parties are “about the same”.
- Democrat run school boards nationwide have seen an increase in parental participation in school board meetings. Parents are demanding answers on questions related to mask mandates, the teaching of the divisive Critical Race Theory curriculum, and have called for increased transparency in school board’s decision-making process.
- Historically education has been one of the top issues that democrats have run on as a winning issue, but the parental rights movement created over the past two years has swung the favor to republican candidates.
- Fall midterm elections are expected to see a wave of candidates and voters touting republican opposition to liberal school boards as a central messaging element of their campaigns. Newly elected Virginia Governor Youngkin capitalized on this advantage this past Fall, as he galvanized parent’s feuds with democrat packed school boards to engage a new block of voters and win election.
