VA Superintendent Set to Review Charges Against Loudoun County Superintendent

By WMAL.com

The Virginia Superintendent of Public Instruction, Jillian Balow’s office is set to review charges of misconduct against Loudoun County Public Schools Superintendent School Scott Ziegler, brought forth by the parental rights group Fight For Schools.

  • The state Superintendent’s review: comes in response to a letter sent by Fight For Schools alleging that Ziegler failed in his handling of the high-profile sexual assault cases in the district and is unfit for his current job.
  • What the letter said: “While many of the failures fall at the feet of the Loudoun County School Board, it should be clear to all observers that Superintendent Scott Ziegler does not possess the capability, experience, or leadership skills to sit at the helm of a $1.6 billion taxpayer-funded school division.”
  • State-of-play: in Balow’s response letter she asserts that her office is currently awaiting insights from state Attorney General Miyares’ investigation into the Loudoun County school system.
  • What Youngkin is saying: “the Loudoun County School Board and school administrators withheld key details and knowingly lied to parents about the assaults,” said Youngkin in an executive order issued by his office earlier this year.
