Donald Trump Jr., along with several former members of the Trump Administration, have launched the news aggregation app MxM News (“Minute by Minute”), with hopes of competing with industry titans such as Apple News and Google News.
- Why now: the group led by Trump Jr. is seeking to replace the roll of Drudge Report, which has seen it’s number of unique monthly viewers drop drastically, declining by 57% since 2018, according to Comscore.
- The app: will be a news aggregation platform that will collects articles from a variety of publications that will be available on one easy-to-use app.
- What Trump Jr. is saying: “As I travel around the country, the complaint I hear more than almost anything else is that people don’t know what media outlets, journalists or stories they can actually trust.” “We created the MxM News app to help people cut through that clutter and get trustworthy news and information about topics that matter and impact their lives … We view it as an important public service and also believe it will be a great business.”
- The app’s rollout: will leverage the reach of Trump Jr’s social media, along with other popular conservative social media influencers, to reach a wide audience that they believe are looking for a new conservative aggregation site to get their news.
