Following a week of circling the Beltway the People’s Convoy has moved the highways into the city in an effort to disrupt traffic as a means of protest against the government’s COVID mandates.
- What the D.C. government is saying: “Demonstration activity expected on roadways in and around DC today, motorists should expect traffic delays,” was tweeted from the D.C. city government’s account on Thursday.
- Videos on social media: traffic congestion and long lines of vehicles in a traffic jam around the National Mall.
- Why the are coming into the city now: the convoy had its permit requesting the ability to protest on the National Mall partially denied, according to a report by the Daily Beast.
