Governor Larry Hogan and state legislators agreed to pause the state’s gas tax for the next month in an effort to help working class families hit hard by rising gas prices. Maryland state House Speaker Adrienne Jones and Maryland state Senate President Bill Ferguson worked with the Office of Governor Hogan to halt the gas tax.
- What they are saying: “This swift action will help ease the financial burden on everyday Marylanders while keeping the pressure on Vladimir Putin and the Russian oligarchs who have enabled him … We look forward to working with the Governor in the coming days to relieve the pressure on Marylanders’ pocketbooks while ensuring our long-term fiscal health,” said the two legislative leaders in a joint statement issue last week.
