Sen. Graham Calls for Putin Assassination

By WMAL.com

The outspoken Senator from South Carolina took Twitter by storm on Thursday calling the assassination of Russian President Vladimir Putin. While many followers supported the Tweet, Members from both sides of the aisle voiced their opposition to the tweet.

  • Sen. Graham’s Tweet: “Is there a Brutus in Russia? Is there a more successful Colonel Stauffenberg in the Russian military?” Referencing the Roman assassination of Julius Caesar and the German military officials attempt to murder Hitler.
  • GOP leaders not in agreement: Senator Cruz (R-TX) took to twitter to voice his opposition to the idea – “This is an exceptionally bad idea. Use massive economic sanctions; BOYCOTT Russian oil & gas; and provide military aid so the Ukrainians can defend themselves. But we should not be calling for the assassination of heads of state.”
  • Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene: joined in on the debate – “While we are all praying for peace & for the people of Ukraine, this is irresponsible, dangerous & unhinged. We need leaders with calm minds & steady wisdom. Not blood thirsty warmongering politicians trying to tweet tough by demanding assassinations. Americans don’t want war.”
