DESANTIS REFUSES DEPLOYMENT OF FLORIDA NATIONAL GUARD FOR SOTU SECURITY

By WMAL.com

Governor Ron Desantis (R-FL) has formally denied request for Florida Nation Guardsmen to deploy to Washington, D.C. to serve as security for tonight’s State of the Union address. Capitol Police and the Biden Administration requested National Guard support for the address, fearing the potential arrival of the trucker convoy to the nation’s capital.

  • Gov. Desantis tweet: “Last week, the Biden Administration requested the assistance of State National Guards to deploy to Washington D.C. I have rejected this request — there will be no @FLGuard sent to D.C. for Biden’s State of the Union.”
  • Looking closer: the governor’s rebuke of the President’s request comes on the heels of his address at CPAC where he was highly critical of the President. Desantis has been one of the most vocal critics of President Biden, as many believe the governor is setting up for a 2024 president run.

Biden is scheduled to deliver the State of the Union address tonight at 9pm EST.
