CPAC concluded on Sunday with a rousing speech from the former President Donald J. Trump. The conclusion of the conference came with the release of its annual straw poll, which found Trump continuing to lead the pack as the GOP favorite to earn the parties nomination for president in 2024.
- 59 percent: the percentage of votes former President Trump received in the CPAC straw poll.
- Gov. Desantis (FL): the prospective candidate who finished second to Trump with 31 percent of the vote.
- 11 percent: the percent of the vote share Trump lost since 2021’s CPAC straw poll where he finished with 70 percent of the vote.
While many believe President Trump is the most likely to win the party’s presidential nomination in 2024 it is clear the Governor Ron Desantis is closing the gap.
