On Thursday, the Florida GOP scored a major win, passing the “Stop Woke Act” through the House. The legislation would bar public school teachers from teaching lesson plans related to Critical Race Theory and gender identity.
- The legislation has been sent to the desk of Governor Ron Desantis to be signed into law.
- Desantis championed the bill from the start and hopes to provide a blueprint for other states to follow his lead on outlawing these divisive lesson plans in their state’s public-school systems.
- The governor has described the bill as mechanism for families and businesses to push back against the attempts of “woke indoctrination” from the left.
Governor Desantis: “We won’t allow Florida tax dollars to be spent teaching kids to hate our country or to hate each other. We also have a responsibility to ensure that parents have the means to vindicate their rights when it comes to enforcing state standards. Finally, we must protect Florida workers against the hostile work environment that is created when large corporations force their employees to endure CRT-inspired ‘training’ and indoctrination.”
