Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) released a statement Wednesday regarding Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, including a swipe at former President Donald J. Trump.

• Romney’s statement: “Putin’s impunity predictably follows our tepid response to his previous horrors in Georgia and Crimea, our naive efforts at a one-sided ‘reset’ and the shortsightedness of ‘America First”.

• While Romney criticized President Biden’s attempt to reset America’s relationship with Russia, the Senator more assertively mentioned Trump’s “America First” approach to foreign affairs.

• Despite Romeny’s criticism, under the Trump Administration Russia took no significant military actions against Ukraine.
