A day after the first day of spring, the cherry blossoms got another step closer to peak bloom. The cherry trees around the Tidal Basin reached florets extended, stage three of six on Monday.
The National Park Service Tweeted next we’ll see some white color emerge on the Yoshino trees. Peak bloom’s predicted between April 2 through 5th this year. Last year peak bloom was March 20.
NPS is hoping you’ll avoid the Tidal Basin because of the pandemic and watch on its bloom cam.
The Cherry Blossom Festival kicked off with a virtual opening ceremony Saturday and has other virtual events and things you can do at home through April 11.
