WASHINGTON – Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan has announced that the state will open at least six mass vaccination sites throughout the state in the near future.

According to a press release from Hogan’s office, both Six Flags America in Prince George’s County and the Baltimore Convention Center will be used as mass vaccination sites.

Health officials will begin administering COVID-19 vaccines at those two locations by Friday, February 5.

M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore will also be used as one of these vaccination sites.

The press release mentions that there will be additional regional sites on the Eastern Shore and in Western and Southern Maryland. The locations are being finalized.

“The truth is that this is not going to magically get better overnight,” Governor Hogan said in a press release. “The last 10 months have been really hard—this is much, much harder. So I ask all Marylanders to please be patient with the vaccination providers. They are all doing the best they can with very little resources. When is it your turn, be ready to get the vaccine.”

The state will make an announcement when appointments for mass sites become available.

Hogan also announced on Tuesday that Maryland’s network of pharmacy vaccinators will now include Safeway and Rite Aid locations. There will be 51 retail pharmacies providing vaccinations statewide beginning next week. That number is expected to increase as Maryland receives more doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
