WASHINGTON – Virginia Republican Daniel Gade has conceded the senate race to Democrat Mark Warner.
Gade is a professor at American University in Washington and a retired Army lieutenant colonel who was seriously injured in Iraq in 2005. Warner is a former governor and the current vice-chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee.
I’m a career servant of the Constitution, not a lifelong politician. I enlisted in the US Army as a private in 1992, and retired as a lieutenant colonel in 2017.

According to the Associated Press, Warner won with 56% of the vote. Gade had 44%.
“I will never stop fighting for our country and for the Constitution which sustains it, but this race is over. I concede and call on all of my supporters to recognize state and federal results with peace and unity,” Gade tweeted. “No matter the results of the Presidential election, in particular, it is paramount that every American realize that we still live in the greatest country on earth, and to work towards “liberty and justice for all.”
