GRAB THE GOLDEN STEP STOOL… Michael Bloomberg to speak at Democratic National Convention

Michael Bloomberg — who spent nearly $1 billion in a failed bid for the Democratic presidential nomination — said he will be speaking at the Democratic National Convention next week, according to a report.

The former three-term New York City Mayor announced his upcoming appearance in an email to supporters Thursday saying he plans to explain “why we have the best candidates to meet today’s challenges and get big things done,” according to a report by the Daily Beast.

Bloomberg, 78 — who is the founder of financial media company Bloomberg LP, is one of the richest men in the world with an estimated worth of $65 billion — made a surprise run for the primary spot only appearing on the ballot for the first time on March 3.

‘It’s Official’: Andrew Yang Added To DNC Speaker List

Former Democratic presidential primary candidate Andrew Yang was added to the speaker’s list for the Democratic National Convention months after ending his bid for the White House.

The Silicon Valley entrepreneur and CNN contributor announced on Twitter that he had been added as a speaker at the Aug. 17 convention.

“And it’s official – we have been added to the DNC Convention speaker lineup! Thank you #YangGang and everyone else who made this happen!” Yang tweeted Thursday morning.

Democratic lawmakers expressed support for Yang after he noted in an Aug. 11 tweet that the party did not invite him to speak.

HILLARY SEES HER OPENING? 19TH NEWS: Hillary Clinton in a Biden administration? ‘I’m ready to help in any way I can.’

When asked if she would take a role in a potential Biden administration, former secretary of state and 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton didn’t entirely rule it out. But for now, she’s focused on getting Joe Biden and his running mate, Kamala Harris, elected.

“I’m ready to help in any way I can because I think this will be a moment where every American — I don’t care what party you are, I don’t care what age, race, gender, I don’t care — every American should want to fix our country,” Clinton said in a conversation with 19th Washington correspondent Amanda Becker. “So if you’re asked to serve, you should certainly consider that.”

5-D — BARR: EXPECT DEVELOPMENT IN DURHAM PROBE TODAY

BREAKING OVERNIGHT… DURHAM REVEAL TO BEGIN FRIDAY… AG Bill Barr Says New ‘Development’ Imminent In Durham Probe (VIDEO)

Attorney General William Barr said Thursday that a development in the investigation into the origins of the Trump-Russia probe is expected as early as Friday, and that more “significant” developments will happen prior to the election in November.

“Tomorrow there will be a development in the case,” Barr said in an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity.

“It’s not an earth-shattering development, but it is an indication that things are moving along at the proper pace as dictated by the facts in this investigation.”

John Durham, the U.S. attorney for Connecticut, has been investigating various aspects of the FBI and CIA’s activities related to Trump associates in 2016 and 2017. He is reportedly looking into the FBI’s rationale for opening a counterintelligence investigation on the Trump campaign in July 2016, as well as the FBI’s handling of the Steele dossier. […]

“We are not going to do anything inappropriate before the election but we are not being dictated to by the schedule, what’s dictating the timing of this is our development of the case,” Barr said Thursday.

John Durham grills former top FBI lawyer: Report

United States Attorney John Durham has interviewed the former top FBI lawyer during the Russia investigation.

James Baker, who recently was hired by Twitter, met with Durham’s team in recent weeks and was quickly brought back for follow-up questions, a source told CNN.

The report noted that witnesses who have spoken with Durham are unable to figure out who is a major target for prosecution in his criminal inquiry into Russia investigation.

Baker, who became general counsel in 2014 and resigned from the FBI in 2018, defended the Russia investigation and the FBI’s handling of British ex-spy Christopher Steele’s anti-Trump dossier. He was involved in the sign-off process of at least the first Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrant application that targeted former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.

5-E — ISRAEL / UAE DEAL

*HISTORIC PEACE DEAL: President Trump says the United Arab Emirates and Israel will establish diplomatic ties in a new peace deal halting planned annexation of occupied land sought by the Palestinians for their future state. The announcement by Trump came in a tweet on Thursday. It means the UAE, which is home to the cities of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, would become the first Gulf Arab state to have ties to Israel. Among Arab nations, only Egypt and Jordan have active diplomatic ties with Israel. Egypt made a peace deal with Israel in 1979, followed by Jordan in 1994.

TRUMP NEGOTIATES MIDDLE EAST PEACE DEAL… UAE and Israel to establish full diplomatic ties

JERUSALEM (AP) — Israel and the United Arab Emirates announced Thursday they are establishing full diplomatic relations in a U.S.-brokered deal that required Israel to halt its contentious plan to annex occupied West Bank land sought by the Palestinians.

The historic deal delivered a key foreign policy victory to President Donald Trump as he seeks re-election and reflected a changing Middle East in which shared concerns about archenemy Iran have largely overtaken traditional Arab support for the Palestinians.

A spokesman for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said the deal amounts to “treason,” and should be reversed.

The agreement makes the UAE the third Arab country, after Egypt and Jordan, to have full diplomatic ties with Israel. They announced it in a joint statement, saying deals between Israel and the UAE were expected in the coming weeks in such areas as tourism, direct flights and embassies.

Trump called the deal “a truly historic moment.”

“Now that the ice has been broken I expect more Arab and Muslim countries will follow the United Arab Emirates,” he told reporters in the Oval Office.
