US Supreme Court strikes Louisiana’s Unsafe Abortion Protection Act (ADF)

The following quote may be attributed to Alliance Defending Freedom General Counsel Kristen Waggoner regarding the U.S. Supreme Court’s narrow decision Monday in June Medical Services v. Russo to strike down Louisiana’s law requiring abortionists, just like doctors at ambulatory surgical centers, to hold admitting privileges at nearby hospitals:

“Women can speak for themselves—they don’t need abortion businesses to speak for them. Women seeking abortions have the same right to competent and quality care as patients involved in other surgical procedures. Louisiana’s admitting privileges law protected that right. Louisiana abortion providers went to extraordinary lengths to erase a law that state legislators enacted overwhelmingly, in bi-partisan fashion, to promote the wellbeing of women. Our work to prioritize women’s health and safety over abortion business interests will continue at the federal, state, and local levels.” [Read More]

‘Absurd’: Kayleigh McEnany chides reporter for questioning if Trump is glad South lost Civil War (Washington Examiner)

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany shot down a reporter’s question on whether President Trump is glad the South lost the Civil War.

During a press briefing on Monday, Ryan Lizza, chief Washington correspondent for Politico, introduced his questions by mentioning the national discussion around statues and flags that commemorate the Confederacy.

“I think a lot of people are trying to understand what his view of memorializing the Confederacy is and the proper place of the Confederate flag,” he said. “Does President Trump believe that it was a good thing that the South lost the Civil War?” [Read More]

KT McFarland: Unverified Intel on Russia-Taliban Should Not Reach Trump (Newsmax)

Former deputy national security adviser K.T. McFarland Monday said intelligence reports stating that Russia was paying the Taliban to assassinate American troops in Afghanistan should have not reached President Donald Trump’s desk if they had not been vetted.

“I was in the president’s daily briefing every day when I worked for President Trump,” McFarland, who worked under former NSA Michael Flynn, said on Fox News’ “Fox and Friends.” “Intelligence that gets to that level is stuff that’s been verified. It’s been checked. It’s been vetted … but at that stage, intelligence should not go to the president’s desk. If he acts on it and it turns out not to be true, what if this is another weapons of mass destruction in Iraq that in the end turned out not to be true.” [Read More]

We Can’t Let the Outrage Mob Win (National Review)

very record has been destroyed or falsified, every book has been rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street and building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And that process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped.”

I’ve been thinking a lot about George Orwell’s chilling premonition over the past several weeks, as an ever-growing number of statues, books, movies, television shows, and even food brands have been canceled by the left-wing mob. [Read More]
