Navy admiral submits results of probe on virus-infected ship

WASHINGTON (AP) – The Navy says results of an internal investigation into the spread of the coronavirus aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt aircraft carrier have been received by the chief of naval operations, Adm. Mike Gilday.

Gilday will review the investigation report and then consult with the incoming Navy secretary, Kenneth Braithwaite, after he assumes the post Friday.

James McPherson, who has been the acting secretary since April, had ordered the latest investigation, which widened an initial inquiry.

That first investigation concluded that the Roosevelt’s skipper, Capt. Brett Crozier, who was fired over his handling of the coronavirus outbreak, should be restored to command.
