Georgetown basketball coach and former Knicks star Patrick Ewing out of the hospital after testing positive for COVID-19

MARYLAND (WMAL) – Georgetown University men’s basketball coach and former Knicks star Patrick Ewing is out of the hospital.

Ewing, 57, Tweeted last Friday that he tested positive for COVID-19 and was in a local hospital. Monday his son Patrick Ewing Jr. Tweeted his dad is now home and getting better.

“I want to thank all of the doctors and hospital staff for taking care of my father during his stay, as well as everyone who has reached out with thoughts and prayers to us since his diagnosis,” Ewing Jr. Tweeted.

He added he hopes everyone continues to stay safe and protect themselves and their loved ones.

“This virus is serious and should not be taken lightly,” Ewing tweeted last week.

The school said in a statement Ewing – who played for the Hoyas from 1981 to 1985 and has served as the team’s head coach since 2017 – is the only member of the men’s basketball team who contracted the virus.
