Maryland Lawmakers OK Sports Betting On Last Day Of Session

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Maryland lawmakers have passed a measure to let voters decide whether to allow sports betting in the state.

The Senate gave final approval to the bill Wednesday. Lawmakers are adjourning early from the annual legislative session later in the day due to the coronavirus.

The sports betting measure simply puts the question on the ballot for voters to decide in November.

The bill leaves details about how sports betting would be implemented if voters approve until another time.

The Senate is expected to take a final vote on the state’s $48 billion budget for the next fiscal year.
