WASHINGTON– A woman in her 30s has the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in Frederick County. That’s according to County Executive Jan Gardner.
Gardner says the woman, who is recovering at home did not travel abroad, but did have contact with people who have been in areas where the Coronavirus is rampant.
The Maryland Department of Health is continuing to investigate.
“This was expected and we have been preparing for this situation for many weeks,” Dr. Barbara Brookmyer, the county’s health officer said in a statement..
“Frederick County residents should stay home if they are sick or if they are at high risk. Everyone should practice social distancing techniques and prevention strategies like hand-washing and covering coughs and sneezes,” Brookmyer added.
Frederick County residents can call 866-414-6803 to reach our local 211 center with general questions about coronavirus or COVID-19.
