5am – A/B/C NYT editorial board endorses Elizabeth Warren, Amy Klobuchar for Democratic nomination for president. (The Hill) – The New York Times editorial board on Sunday night endorsed both Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) for the Democratic nomination for president. The dual endorsement, a break in convention for the Times, comes just two weeks before the first primary contests in Iowa and New Hampshire, where Warren has remained a top contender while Klobuchar has struggled to break out of single-digit support. “In a break with convention, the editorial board has chosen to endorse two separate Democratic candidates for president,” reads the Times’s endorsement. “Choosing who should face off against [President] Trump also means acknowledging that Americans are being confronted with three models for how to govern this country, not two. Democrats must decide which of their two models would be most compelling for the American people and best suited for repairing the Republic,” it continues. “That’s why we’re endorsing the most effective advocates for each approach. They are Elizabeth Warren and Amy Klobuchar.
5am – D ROYALS / HARRY & MEGHAN:
- Prince Harry breaks silence after ‘Megxit’ announcement: ‘No other option.’ Prince Harry on Sunday publicly addressed his decision to “step back” from royal life, saying he wanted to continue supporting Queen Elizabeth without public funding, but “unfortunately, that wasn’t possible.” In a speech given at a dinner for supporters of the Sentebale charity in London, the Prince addressed why he and his wife, Meghan Markle, chose to relinquish their “royal highness” titles and move part-time to Canada. “Before I begin, I must say that I can only imagine what you may have heard, or perhaps read, over the past few weeks,” Harry began. “So, I want you to hear the truth from me — as much as I can share, not as a prince or a duke, but as Harry, the same person that many of you have watched grow up over the past 35 years, but now with a clearer perspective.”
- Britain’s Prince Harry and his wife Meghan have agreed to give up their royal titles and public funding as part of a settlement with the Queen that lets them spend more private time in Canada
- Meghan Markle’s American father accuses her of turning royal family ‘into a Walmart with a crown on it’
- The Queen is ‘very sad’ she has barely seen baby Archie since his birth and worries he will ‘miss out on growing up with his family’ in Britain after Megxit
- Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will KEEP their HRH titles but have ‘agreed NOT to use them’ after Megxit (but they are still using it on their website)

Ralph Northam’s state of emergency banning weapons on the grounds of the state capitol building during a planned gun rally this coming Monday. Justices issued their decision late Friday, rejecting an appeal from the Virginia Citizens Defense League and Gun Owners of America and upheld a lower court ruling that found that the governor has the authority under state law to take action related to “the safety and welfare” of the state.
- MEDIA SPIN OF GUN RALLY IN RICHMOND:
- NBC News’ Ben Collins slammed for warning of ‘white nationalist rally in Virginia’: Ahead of Monday’s gun-rights rally in Virginia, NBC News reporter Ben Collins labeled the event a “white nationalist” gathering Sunday, even as he warned against spreading “made-up stuff” on Twitter — prompting scores of critics to point out the apparent irony, and to condemn his network for sanctioning Collins’ checkered reporting on the so-called “dystopia beat.”
- Reporters covering tomorrow’s white nationalist rally in Virginia, I’m absolutely begging you: Verify information before you send it out tomorrow, even if it’s a very sensational rumor you heard from a cop,” Collins wrote in his since-deleted tweet. “Don’t become a hero in neo-Nazi propaganda circles with made-up stuff.”
- Washington Post Presents Virginia Gun Rally as Charlottesville 2.0. The Post reports on various self-declared militia members who are coming in from other states to attend the rally, and they note the militia members who pledged to never return to Charlottesville while armed made no such pledge regarding Richmond, the location of Monday’s rally. The Post also reports that the “FBI arrested three alleged members of a white-supremacist group on gun charges” Thursday, and that “they planned to attend the Richmond rally and incite violence.”
6am – D/E/F WOMEN’S MARCH RECAP:
- NPR: Women’s March Draws A Smaller, But Passionate Crowd. The fourth annual Women’s March descended on the streets of Washington on Saturday. But unlike the first demonstration that brought hundreds of thousands to the capital the day after President Trump’s inauguration, the march drew just a fraction of the original turnout as the movement has struggled with changes in leadership and questions about inclusivity. The demonstration in Washington was the main march, but sister marches were also held in more than 200 cities around the world, including Los Angeles, Chicago and Brussels. As snowflakes began to fall in Washington, protesters gathered at Freedom Plaza to hear several members of the Women’s March board speak before taking off on the designated route around the White House. This year, the march focused on three main issues: climate change, reproductive rights and immigration.
- On stage at the beginning of the Women’s March, some Chilean marchers teach the women how to chant a song about rape and patriarchy during the march: The Chilean anti-rape protest anthem is “Un Violador en Tu Camino” — “The Rapist in Your Path” / “Patriarchy is our judge… is a violence you don’t see… that imprisons us at birth… and the RAPIST IS YOU… it’s the COPS. It’s the JUDGES. It is the state. It’s the SYSTEM”
- Reporter SAVANAH H. From The War Room with Owen Shroyer asks the Women’s March about how only women can have a period. They get very angry at her. They curse at her and call her a TURF (what is that??)
- Alex Jones identified as a woman at the women’s march and trolled some women.
