WASHINGTON (WMAL) – Local groups across the District were eager to show their team spirit ahead of the Washington Nationals’ clash against the Houston Astros in Game 1 of the World Series on Tuesday night.
Many of these groups took to social media to show their support.
The National Park Service’s official National Mall Twitter account said it would be unofficially changing the name of the National Mall to “Nationals Mall” in honor of the Washington Nationals. The tweet also featured the Nats logo superimposed over the National Mall.

The Washington National Cathedral also shared a video on Twitter of an arrangement of “Baby Shark” on its 10,647-pipe organ. Nationals outfielder Gerardo Parra uses “Baby Shark” as his at-bat song and it has become an anthem of sorts for the team this season.

All across District you can also find WMATA’s MetroBuses flashing a “Go Nats” message. The DC Police Department’s Twitter account also went all out for the World Series, adding a baseball and Nats logo to its profile picture.

First pitch for Game 1 is at 8:08 p.m. in Houston. Nats pitcher Max Scherzer will be taking on Astros pitcher Gerrit Cole.
