BALTIMORE, MD (WMAL) — The Maryland Department of Health is conducting an ongoing investigation into a salmonella outbreak in individuals who all had eaten at Moby Dick House of Kabob, which has multiple locations in the DC area. Nine cases have been confirmed so far, with eight of the nine individuals having reported eating Moby Dick hummus. The exact cause of the salmonella outbreak has not yet been determined.
Moby Dick House of Kabob has voluntarily stopped the sale of hummus, and the Maryland Department of Health advises that any Moby Dick customers who are experiencing any negative health symptoms should seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of salmonella include cramps, diarrhea and fever occurring within six hours to four days after the initial infection; these symptoms can last from four to seven days.
